This picture is the Japan attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. In this picture, sailors in a rescue boat rescue a survivor next to the sinking USS West Virginia. 


The following series of historical pictures shows the long term effects of how atomic warfare was used successfully by the United States to defeat Japan in war. 

Above is a picture of Hiroshima before the atomic bomb, "Little boy", was dropped on the city.
This picture shows the mushroom cloud which was the effect from the dropping of the atomic bomb, "Little boy" on Hiroshima.
Above shows the American success from dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
This picture shows the explosion site taken from a U.S. Air Force map of Hiroshima before the bomb was dropped. Also showing the exact sit of the explosion with circles drawn at 1,000 foot intervals radiating out from ground zero.
The picture show above is what Nagasaki looked like prior to the Americans dropping "Fat man" on the city.
This mushroom cloud was the immediate aftermath of the "Fat man" atomic bomb.
The preceding picture is the long term effects from the atomic bomb "Fat man."

Pearl Harbor

This video shows the surprise attack from Japan on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in the United States. This attack took place on December 7, 1941 at 7:51am with no warning at all. 

The Manhattan Project Begins

This shows that the Manhattan Project began in 1939. The Manhattan Project was the American's secret development of the atomic bomb. 

Truman Speech on Potsdam Conference and atom bomb on Hiroshima 

In this speech, President Truman makes a speech where he gives the impression that he would authorize the droppings of the atomic bombs on Japan. Also in this speech, he is revealed as a rising leader. 

Attack on Hiroshima

This is a video of the first atomic bombing on Hiroshima, Japan. This took place on August 6, 1945. The atomic bomb used in this attack was "Little boy". This was the first atomic bomb ever used to destroy an entire city.


In this video, the United States bomb Nagasaki, Japan on August 9, 1945. The atomic bomb "Fat man" was used. Six days later, on August 15, 1945, the Japanese surrender to the United States. This made the United States successful in winning the war.
