The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justified due to many ongoing conflicts between Japan and the United States. Japan and the United States were working on a peace treaty when with no warning, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and killed thousands of American lives. The United States, enraged with this event, felt like they needed to take action. At this time, they were working on the Manhattan Project. This was a secret project in the development of nuclear warfare. When research and development was concluded, the United States felt that they were ready to attack. Unlike Japan, the United States gave them fair warning but the Japanese would not surrender. With this, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. After this bombing, the Japanese were given another chance to surrender, but the offer was still not accepted. Therefore, three days later a second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. With these bombings, many lives were put in jeopardy, but it eventually ended the conflict and war between the United States and Japan.
